Zurich Insurance has become the first Australian insurer to recognize Tesla's Full Self-Driving Supervised as reducing driving risk, and is now offering lower insurance premiums to reflect that safety profile.

According to the announcement, Australian Tesla owners have already driven more than 132 million kilometers using FSD. Safety data shows around 7 times fewer major and minor collisions when FSD Supervised is engaged compared to manual driving.

"Insurance companies price risk with real money," the statement noted. "If they're lowering the cost, the safety data is speaking for itself." The move translates improved safety performance into lower ownership costs for Tesla drivers in Australia, marking a tangible market validation of FSD's safety improvements.
