Tesla unveils Accordion Supercharger for tight spaces
New pre-assembled design cuts installation costs by 20% and fits between parking spaces.

Tesla Charging announced its first Accordion Supercharger, a modular charging solution designed to expand deployment options in space-constrained locations. "Our goal is to pre-assemble all Superchargers in a factory. If we can't install Superchargers behind a curb, we now have a pre-assembled solution for Superchargers between parking spaces," the account wrote on X.
The system delivers 16 stalls per truck shipment and reduces installation costs by 20 compared to traditional Supercharger deployments. Tesla emphasizes instant commissioning and quality control as key benefits of the factory-assembled approach.
The Accordion design addresses a longstanding constraint in Supercharger rollout: real estate availability and site conditions. By pre-fabricating units off-site, Tesla aims to simplify logistics and accelerate deployment in urban and parking-limited environments where conventional behind-the-curb installations aren't feasible.
