Tesla drivers can soon text via Grok voice command
Updated Model Y manual reveals Grok integration for hands-free messaging to any contact or phone number.

Tesla is preparing to let drivers compose and send text messages using Grok, the company's AI assistant. According to the updated Model Y owner manual cited by @cb_doge on X, "drivers will be able to ask Grok to text any contact or phone number by voice."
The feature would allow drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road while sending messages, fitting Tesla's broader push to integrate Grok into vehicle functions. The manual update suggests the capability is imminent, though Tesla has not yet announced a specific rollout date or which vehicle models will receive it first.
This addition expands Grok's presence in Tesla's in-vehicle software ecosystem beyond information queries and mirrors requests Tesla owners have already proposed for voice-based messaging.
