Three image files labeled as Gen 3 have been discovered in Tesla's Android app version 4.60.5-4573, according to analysis by X user @tslaming. The signed asset package contains robot_closeup_gen3.png, robot_home_full_body_gen3.png, and robot_home_inactive_gen3.png—internally confirming Tesla's generational labeling, though the assets may not represent the final production design.

The most significant visual changes from earlier prototypes are the sealed joints and flexible shrouds covering all actuators and wiring. According to @tslaming's breakdown, this design eliminates exposed components that could pose pinch hazards on factory floors and improves protection against dust and contamination. The torso appears to use a single monolithic shell, likely constructed from lightweight composite material rather than stamped metal, which could help package the 2.3 kWh battery and central compute stack more efficiently.

Other refinements visible in the assets include relocated hand actuators moved higher into the forearms to use tendon-driven linkages for improved finger dexterity, and tapered legs with minimal feet designed to reduce mass at the extremities. These changes aim to lower motor demands during walking and improve gait smoothness. The overall styling shows a shift toward what @tslaming describes as a "refined production form factor" compared to earlier research prototypes.
