Tesla has integrated Grok, xAI's AI assistant, directly into its vehicles, allowing drivers to issue voice commands while keeping their hands on the wheel or off the phone entirely. The feature appears designed to complement FSD Supervised by letting drivers accomplish computer-related tasks during commutes without distraction.

A user quoted by Tesla on X highlighted the practical appeal: "I dramatically underestimated the value of Grok Bot in my Tesla. The magic isn't in the raw capability itself, it's in the combination of raw capability and total seamlessness." The user described using voice commands to retrieve files from a home Mac and move them to OneDrive, and to prompt Grok-integrated Claude to build a presentation deck based on job context and styling preferences—all without stopping the vehicle or fumbling with a phone.

The integration appears to leverage Grok's ability to access files and integrate with other AI tools like Claude, making it useful for work preparation during transit. While the same tasks can technically be completed via a phone app in voice mode, Tesla's in-vehicle implementation removes the friction of manual interaction while driving, potentially changing how frequently users engage with AI assistance.

Can you technically do everything you’re able to do with Grok Bot in the Tesla just by launching the app on your phone and going voice mode? Sure. But the magic isn’t in the raw capability itself, it’s in the combination of raw capability and total seamlessness. I often have fleeting "— X · @Tesla
