2022 Model S runs FSD v14 lite from garage start
A user reports their older Model S can now initiate self-driving directly from the garage, a capability they've awaited since 2018.

A 2022 Model S owner shared a video on X showing Full Self-Driving v14 lite initiating from inside their garage, marking what they described as a long-awaited milestone. "I have been dreaming of this day from 2018!!" the user wrote, noting that the garage door automatically closed as the vehicle departed.
The user observed the feature works on their older hardware configuration, though they noted it runs "a little slower than HW#4"—a reference to Tesla's newest hardware platform. The ability to launch FSD without manually driving to a safe starting point represents an expansion of the self-driving system's functionality, particularly for owners with home charging and garage setups.
The v14 lite variant continues Tesla's rollout of FSD beta to a broader set of vehicles and hardware configurations. This capability underscores ongoing expansion of where and how the system can operate.
